Morning Snow Glory Testimony

I woke up at 6:30 am and as I looked out the window I saw the backyard still covered in snow.  Snow fall is few and far between here in Southeast Georgia.  I was startled by all the white beauty as it clung to everything in sight.  It has been a decade since we had the last snow and even then it never covered as this February storm of 2010.

In that moment the Lord spoke to my heart and said, "Morning Snow Glory."  I knew He wanted me to paint it.  A picture formed in my mind of Vann McCall's Granny house covered in snow.  The previous year I had painted one of the same house called "God in the Hunt."

Within the hour, my daughter Sheila was out capturing the moments with her camera.  We wanted to get the atmosphere before the sun would come out and melt it all away.  I knew exactly what I wanted to portray; the Lord had it engraved in my mind.  Those early morning moments just before the sun when a silence fills the air and the only stirring is from animals and birds.

The light from windows would still have a glow about them.

As I went into the studio to prepare for the days work, I prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to partner with me. Let us dance together as I begin to paint.  He brought to my mind a picture of a beautifully painted egg with a scene inside signifying a captured moment in time.  A border that would be rounded around the corners. An invitation leading into the scene before you.

As I prayed, I mentioned to the Lord, " It sure would be nice to get an actual picture of the house surrounded by the snow."  By 10:00am  that same morning I got a call from my dear friends who take pictures for me and they said, "guess what we got!"  my reply was, "pictures of Vann McCall's Granny house in the snow."

She had woke up early and the Lord had told her to go get pictures of the Granny house in the snow.

As they came upon the scene there were some does crossing the road across from the house.  I knew then that I was to add the deer and a doe along with the birds in the trees.   I shared with her how the Lord used her to answer the desire of my heart.

Morning Snow Glory

February 12, 2010 is a captured moment in time.

Early in the morning as the light of day dawns.

The air is crisp and cold.

There is no breeze this morning as the snow blankets the ground and rests on every outstretched limb and structure.

Birds are singing in the morning as they fluff their feathers to keep warm.

The overcast skies are as picturesque as the snow aiding to the ethereal mood of the hour.

The captured moments of the camera reveal a hint of blue to the snow color.

A light fog rising is evaporating giving the trees a misty look of surrealism like a painted Christmas card.

A hart leaps silently across the yard as the glow from the window kisses his antlers and back.

He is alert and swift with hind’s feet as he follows the waiting doe.

A mystical border invites you into the painting as you study the light from windows aglow; imagining a hearty fire in the hearth to sit close with that first cup of morning coffee.

A Bible in your lap as you meditate upon the Lord's morning of snow glory.
